Quick, very very tired post: apologies to all the people who tried to get in to the Kulturhuset interview/reading and weren't allowed in. Apparently the organisers had tried to get it moved to a space that would fit more than 300 people and were told that it was out of the question (I was told, because the people who run the Kulturhuset didn't believe that anyone would want to see me, as they hadn't heard of me). Your best bet is to come to the SF Bookshop signing on Saturday, when I'll do a reading, answer questions and sign for everyone who needs things signed. Details at :http://www.sfbok.se/filer/gaisign.htm. I'll be doing a reading and a signing tomorrow -- Friday -- at Akademibokhandeln http://www.akademibokhandeln.se/ but there seems to be some uncertainty about how long it'll go and so forth, so the Saturday one seems a more reliable bet if you're just doing one.
Meanwhile, my thanks to everyone so far in Finland and Norway and Sweden. You've all been terrific.
Several people have pointed out that Lord Dunsany also wrote about gods dying when they were no longer believed in, and one person pointed out that so did Harlan Ellison in Deathbird Stories (although that one was already credited at the back of American Gods). I'm sure that lots more can be found. As I say, it's a pretty venerable meme, which predates both Terry Pratchett and me, let alone our books...
And Sandman:Endless Nights has gone onto the New York Times Bestseller list at #20, which is pretty cool when you think that half of the sales are through the direct market, and invisible to the Times tracking system...
